Hi, it’s Mel here, It’s a painful recovery that’s for sure but my team are trying their very best as always. Using my phone is hard hence the lack of posts but there’s not much to say at the moment as I’m mainly flat on my back in bed resting.
I’ve not been sleeping so we are working on finding a solution to that – as sleeping is needed to heal!
I’m still on the IV infusions for pain, fluids and steroids, but have started eating and drinking again now. Which is progress.
I see a physio 2x daily but have only managed one session a day so far due to pain and I’ve not managed to lay on my side yet – other than to quickly roll with help to change the sheets.
They showed me videos of my dislocating ribs today and it’s pretty shocking to see just how unstable they were! So we know I 100% made the right/ the only decision regarding surgery!
I’m hoping to manage some
Sleep and have the drain removed in a couple of days… and start trying to lay on my side and sit up in my chair again soon!
“Step by step” – they keep reminding me. The wound looks ok, the heamatoma is reducing and my stitches will be kept in for several weeks before removal for sure.
I’m sorry for the lack of exciting posts but I’m just totally exhausted – I’ve not even had the energy to watch Netflix or listen to music. Managing pain and rolling in bed a few times is enough to wipe me out!
Progress is a funny thing post op, I always feel really defeated and get upset I’m not improving… then suddenly turn a corner and Improve again- I’m hoping that’s the case this time too!
