Hi, it’s Mel here, again!
I managed a little sleep last night- a couple of hours which is a win!
Managed two physio seasons in bed today for the first time and had my drain removed and my IV fluid!
All positive steps. The hematoma is looking better and I’m going to try to lay on my side in bed now as I’m getting sore skin on the back of my head where my skull screws are pressing into the bed 24:7 – I usually roll every 3hrs minimum.
Ive eaten today too and then next steps are to control the pain, increase the physio carefully and hopefully start sitting in my wheelchair again soon- which I’ve not managed since September!
I saw some videos from my surgery showing my ribs dislocating during the operation, it was incredible justification to how horrifically unwell I’ve been!
I’m still on the IV infusions for pain, and steroids, but have started eating and drinking again now. Which is progress.
We know I 100% made the right/ the only decision regarding surgery as they were so incredibly unstable!
I’m hoping to manage a more restful night tonight, start trying to lay on my side more and sit up in my chair again!
“Step by step” – they keep reminding me. The wound looks ok, the heamatoma is reducing and my stitches will be kept in for several weeks before removal for sure.
I’m sorry for the lack of exciting posts but I’m just totally exhausted – I’ve still
not even had the energy to watch Netflix or listen to music today…. Managing pain and rolling in bed a few times is enough to wipe me out!
But it’s all progress- even if it does feel like baby steps!
