In the week prior to my surgery I took a massive decline. What started as one place popping turned into what seemed like EVERYTHING popping all of a sudden and the pain was ridiculous- as you’ll remember from my updates!
However during the fusion surgery it was found that my rib joints were dislocating all over the place on the right hand side at the back.
Dr Gilete extended the rod around the T4 area in my spine and did another large nerve ablation to try to help with the pain, and the rod was placed over the joints to try and fuse them.
However now I’ve began moving again, I’ve been really struggling. My bones are creaking and dislocating literally with EVERY BREATH. And the pain is so severe I’m fighting constant adrenal crisis’.
So today I had an urgent consult with Dr Gilete and a thoracic surgeon to evaluate my case.
He watched my videos of my dislocations & examined me and could see, hear and feel immediately, what the issue is.
It’s my ribs on the right hand side … but at the back not the chest, and they’re dislocating with every movement and every breath due to my extreme hypermobility. At least 3-4 of them.
This is an “injury usually only seen in severe car crash victims” & it’s very painful.
So I’m now booked in for a 3D CT scan tomorrow to evaluate my case properly and see if we can formulate a plan for me… I’m feeling pretty defeated at the moment and not sure how to afford more treatment and potential surgery… but I know I NEED to sort this, and soon!
It’s so close in proximity to the fusion I’ve just had, and it’s never going to fuse if the bones are moving with every breath… and the pain is too much for my body to handle- hence the constant and unrelenting adrenal episodes!
I’m so sad to be in this position and be AGAIN begging for help and donations… it feels like I was so close to achieving everything I’ve been working so hard for- walking with my frame, full days at school… all set for teacher training and then it just got bad so fast!
Feeling very down and defeated, another major setback.
