4th Feb:
Hi, I got out of ICU yesterday & the pain was horrific, I was warned it would be very bad but it was a shock to the system! I’ve never been screaming in pain like I was yesterday!
My incision is HUGE- from my skull to my sacrum (pelvis) and I have 5 rods in my neck now, the two on the right from before and 3 on the left where the new one broke.
It was a very hard day and moving had me screaming in pain, once on the ward they struggled to control my pain but with covid they wanted me out of icu ASAP.
Thankfully they managed to speak to the pain team and get some better pain control sorted so I got a little sleep as I’d been awake since waking from the coma- not a wink of sleep.
So I got some sleep last night. Im not allowed to sit up yet, recovery is going to be long and slow this time, only rolling side to side to ease the pressure as I have some pressure sores off the halo.
As always, Thankyou for the kind donations- we have been told it will be a very long slow recovery and I will be in hospital longer than first anticipated, so donations will be needed.
Any fundraising people can do would be amazing- I know it’s difficult with covid but maybe people could do some online fundraisers eg zoom/fb comedy nights, music nights, quiz’s, fitness challenges, raffles etc!
???????????
Thank you again! I’m so grateful for the support!
