Hi, it’s Leah here- Mel’s PA, Mel has massively deteriorated overnight, so I’m writing this post, as she’s unable to herself.
Her skull is now slipping constantly- she pushes it back in, moves her fingers and it pops out again, compressing her brainstem.
This is causes, loads of seizures, vomiting, excruciating pain, making her scream out involuntarily, tachycardia, palpitations, trouble breathing, episodes of unconsciousness and paralysis.
Her care team are having to sit at the top of her bed and hold/traction her skull constantly… as seen in the photo.
She’s also getting bulging veins in her forehead when her skull slips, we presume this is due to blocking of blood flow to/from the brain.
Her mum spoke to her neurosurgeon this morning and he’s said it is an emergency, and booked her into theatre in Barcelona on Tuesday to be fitted with a halo and stabilise her- until they can operate to fuse everything.
She’s having to fly via medical flight with an ICU team to get there for Tuesdays procedure.
